Does your college or university have a internship program? Are you interested in pursuing a career with the National Park Service or another public land management agency?

Internships can give you the opportunity to learn more about the fields of cultural, historical, and natural resources as well as resource management and protection, education, and maintenance. The variety of jobs are endless – plumbers, electricians, educators, scientists, event management, computer information technicians, and so much more.

Lake Mead National Recreation Area will work with you to develop an internship that matches your goals or your school’s curriculum. Email us to see how we can create an internship opportunity for you. Our hope is to lead new stewards into fulfilling and meaningful careers.

There are also several other paid internship opportunities with the National Park Service through organizations such as:

  • Great Basin Institute
  • Conservation Legacy
  • Student Conservation Association.

Internships through these organizations often provide Public Land Corps hiring authority status in order to be eligible for permanent jobs with the National Park Service. Required experience or education may vary depending on type of internship.

For general information regarding internships, please visit the National Park Service’s National Internship Programs page. For Lake Mead internship opportunities, contact the Volunteer Office by email or phone at (702) 293-8714.
