60th Anniversary of The March on Washington

The Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park commemorates the 60th
anniversary of the March on Washington through special programming with Reflections and Inspirations for a brighter future.

When: Saturday, August 26, 2023
Time: 1:00pm – 3:00pm
Where: Visitor Center located at 450 Auburn Avenue, NE Atlanta, Ga., 30312

The special programming will feature:

  • Guest speakers who will share reflections from their experience attending the historic March on Washington in 1963 as well as local students sharing their aspirations for a brighter future.

  • The 60-year-old video footage of the March on Washington to include Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s “I Have a Dream” speech and other who spoke that day will be shown in the Visitor Center’s theatre.

  • Interpretive talks, led by a National Park Service Park Ranger, will be conducted in the Heritage Sanctuary of the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church.

  • Limited commemorative giveaways will be distributed throughout the special program. While learning about this important march, visitors will hear music of the 1960s era and get an opportunity have their photo taken inside a photobooth.
