Running Granite Rapid at 4000 CFS

Grand Canyon National Park

Description

Granite Rapid is located at River Mile 93.5, where Monument Creek meets the Colorado River. This is a fast run because of a 17 foot drop and a narrow river channel caused by the debris flow from Monument creek. The rapid is known for spectacular waves.

The footage, from a Grand Canyon National Park Archaeology river mission, was recorded during March 2021, when the river was at a low flow of 4000 cubic feet per second.
