Outside Science (inside parks): Ecosystem Restoration at Yukon-Charley Rivers

National Park Service

Description

“It’s positive work. And it’s tangible work. You can see the progress, and, hopefully, the outcome of the restoration.”

In this episode of Outside Science (inside parks) we’re up in Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve with a team of scientists and interns working to restore a 7-mile section Coal Creek. In the early 1900s, gold mining operations in the valley wiped out a lot of the habitat for fish and insects. That habitat is important, especially for salmon.
