Tyler Walsh - Visual Information Specialist

Youth & Young Adult Programs

Transcript

Hi, there. I'm Tyler Walsh and I work in the natural resource office of communication for the Natural Resource Stewardship and Science Directorate. I'm a visual information specialist, which means I work behind the scenes on things like our NPS.gov websites, our explorer nature social media platforms. And I design graphics for use in the digital world but also on waysides, brochures, reports, you name it.

My favorite thing about what I do is that I get to work with National Park Service scientists to help share their stories of the amazing work that they do in parks to help preserve and protect our natural resources. I get to learn something new every day and I get to use my creativity to help share the stories of science in the National Park Service. My pathway to the National Park Service actually started exactly where you are right now with scouts.

My mom was our Girl Scout troop leader and we spent so much time exploring the outdoor world that I just fell head over heels in love with science in nature, and that brought me right to the National Park Service. Throughout my career, I've gotten to work at some amazing places like the Pacific Northwest, Yellowstone, and even all the way across the Pacific Ocean to Hawaii island. I love what I do and I hope that you find what you love to do through scouts just like I did.
