JEROME, Ida. – On Friday, May 24, the visitor center of Minidoka National Historic Site will be open for summer hours: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. MT.

Minidoka National Historic Site is in rural southern Idaho, about 30 minutes from Twin Falls. The park preserves a portion of a WWII Japanese American confinement site in which over 13,000 people were incarcerated without due process.

The visitor center is free to the public and offers museum exhibits, a 30-minute park film, and a small bookstore. Visitors can take a self-guided walking tour on the 1.6 miles (2.5 km) gravel trail daily. Educational exhibits are placed along the trail to provide information.

Public tours are available during the summer season only. Park ranger-led tours of the site are offered on Saturdays and Sundays at 11 a.m. when the visitor center is open. Tours are free and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Meet at the visitor center. Tours last approximately 1.5 hours. Bring water, sun protection, and comfortable walking shoes.

Restrooms are not available when the visitor center is closed. An afterhours box for brochures and the passport stamp is available. Educational Group tours will recommence in the Fall.

Minidoka National Historic Site is located at 1428 Hunt Road in Jerome, Idaho— twenty miles northeast of Twin Falls, Idaho. Admission is free. Minidoka National Historic Site protects and collaboratively manages resources related to the Minidoka Relocation Center in Idaho and the Bainbridge Island Japanese American Exclusion Memorial in Washington State.
