Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influence of the earth. -Henry David Thoreau, Walden

Minute Man National Historical Park is a special place where each day offers new sights, sounds, and opportunities for study. A walk on the Battle Road Trail in summer is uniquely different than one taken in late autumn, and nothing can compare to the energy one feels in the spring air during Patriot's Day weekend events. In order to help our visitors, from both near and far, explore the beauty, history and ever changing nature of this place, Minute Man, and our partners at The Umbrella Arts Center have created a new public art project called One Revolution: A Year of Art and Inspiration at Minute Man National Historical Park. Each season, beginning with winter 2020/2021, we’re providing worksheets and a simple prompts challenging anyone and everyone with access to a pen, pencil, marker, or crayon to create a “work of art” inspired by the changing light, looks, and landscapes in the park over the course of the year. We hope the result will be a fun, creative and interesting way to connect or re-connect to this exceptional place.

Once you've met the challenge, we're asking you to submit your creative works on social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) with the hashtags #WitnessingWinter and #OneRevolutionArt. Make sure you tag both @MinuteManNPS and @TheUmbrellaArts. For the duration of each challenge, the park will feature photos, videos and stories of the season on our social media feeds to further inspire you, as well as highlight your submissions. Once each challenge has concluded, we will post as many of your creations as we can in a set of “One Revolution Art” galleries here on this site, as well as on The Umbrella Arts Center website!
