Searching For Spring Challenge

A scenic view of the Concord River illuminated by early morning sunlight. The wooden North Bridge is seen arching the river covered by a thin layer of fog. Rolling hills of green grass surround and towering trees are seen in the distance.

Searching For Spring: A virtual public art project

April 1, 2021- May 31, 2021

Please join us for Searching for Spring, the second of four challenges in our One Revolution public art collaborative with The Umbrella Arts Center! We need you to help us discover the beauty and the battles of the spring season in Massachusetts. It’s a season of change, of coming alive, and lots of work; While rangers prepare for the April 19th commemorative activities and the summer visitor season, Mother Nature is waking up her children- the birds, the bees, and the blooms all realizing their long winter’s sleep is over. And while there are big events and flashy colors to take in, there are more subtle and hidden treasures to take in this time of year. Help us Search for Spring at Minute Man National Historical Park with fresh eyes and new perspectives. Show us the artifacts of an American spring past and present.

Challenge Instructions

  1. Take a photo of any signs of spring you find while walking, running or biking on the park trails

  2. Search #MuseumMondays on our Facebook page and draw one of the amazing artifacts profiled by our curator Nicole Walsh, either as a still life study, or really go for it and put the item in its historical context by creating a whole scene.

  3. Don’t let us stifle your creativity; we welcome poetry, short stories, or even videos of dance and music inspired by the land and history of Minute Man National Historical Park. Post your challenge submissions on social media with the hashtags #SearchingForSpring and #OneRevolutionArt. Include the artifact or location in the park that inspired you, your name, and where you’re from in the post. Make sure you tag both @MinuteManNPS and @theumbrellaarts.
