Get out and be active!

Moores Creek National Battlefield encourages you to get out and be active. We encourage you to walk or run 100 miles in 100 days! Here at Moores Creek National Battlefield, we have a one-mile long trail system you can use to meet this goal. We encourage you, our visitors, to enjoy this quiet walk through our 244-year-old battlefield! Can't make it here? Live too far away? Find a park near you and ask a ranger who far there trail system is.

In addition, make sure you bring plenty of water and sunscreen when you go out and be active!

On February 27, 1776 the Loyalists began a long and difficult march through swamp and thicket. It is believed that they walked six miles. Want to make that walk in the park? How far is a mile?

If you walk our entire trail system from the start of the History Trail, including around the Women’s Monument, walk the Tarheel Trail, and follow the side walk back to the beginning of the History Trail you have been one mile.

Need to break down your mile? Need that encouragement to know just how much further you need to go? The Rangers at Moores Creek National Battlefield have already done that for you.

Start at the History Trail sign to begin your mile.
