Bryce Canyon Historic Resource Study

Nicholas "Nick" Scrattish's professional career began as a newly-minted PH.D. teaching in a California college. It ended too early as a promisingly productive research historian with the National Park Service. Nick brought to his work a finely-honed intellectual curiosity, a commitment to competence, and a resourcefulness that informed every manuscript that he authored. He also brought to those with whom he worked an engaging personality, an appreciation of the absurd, and an impatience with humbug that made him a stimulating laborer in the historical vineyard. This resource study is representative of the quality work that he produced from his doctoral dissertation to the report that he completed within hours of his tragic death. The "hot-eyed Croat" was an excellent scholar, a valued colleague, and a credit to this profession and the service.
