Ground-breaking ceremony, visitor center . . .
Josiah Red Wolf, five years old in 1877 and the last survivor of the War of 1877, speaks at the ground-breaking ceremony for the visitor center at Big Hole National Battlefield, 1968. The Spalding site . . .
The Spalding site is situated beside the confluence of Lapwai Creek and the Clearwater River, top left. The mission site is in the trees beyond the parked cars. The arboretum extends from the center to the right of the photo and the Presbyterian cemetery is behind the single row of trees in the center of the photo.
