Back to Field Trips

Description: (3rd-5th Grade) Students explore settler and Paiute life, natural resources of the area, and human impact on the environment at Pipe Spring by doing the daily tasks of 1870s characters (Dairymaid, ranch hand, Paiute gatherer, settler, and telegrapher)

Theme: The various lifeways and subsistence strategies utilized at Pipe Spring by different cultures offer diverse opportunities to experience and reflect upon the difficulties of survival and adaptation in an arid setting, decisions about where and how we live, reasons for westward expansion, and the impacts it has had on the local environment.
