Quick Facts

Parking - Auto, Picnic Table, Restroom, Scenic View/Photo Spot, Trailhead

Baker Beach, a mile-long sandy stretch, is located in the southwest corner of the Presidio near the 25th Avenue Gate. For stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and Marin Headlands, this is one prime spot. And dog friends are welcome!

The picnic area is cozy and sheltered from the wind. The tables are popular when the sun comes out, so get there early to claim a spot, especially on the weekends. The site is equipped with barbeque pits and nearby restrooms. So throw something tasty on the grill and stay awhile!

The picnic site is managed by the National Park Service Special Park Uses Group (SPUG). Visit the SPUG website for information about group permits , or contact them by phone at (415) 561-4374.

Ocean Safety

Baker Beach is a great place for fun, but the ocean waters here can be dangerous. Powerful riptides can overpower even experienced swimmers. Cold temperatures and shore breaks-waves that break directly on shore-are other potential hazards, so be careful on your day at the beach.

Bare All at Baker Beach

Beware bathing beauties in birthday suits! The north end of the beach is a place where people are traditionally under-dressed and nude!
