From this point, hikers and bikers can state unequivocally that they have ended - or are just starting- their full trip on the C&O Canal towpath. The towpath follows along the canal for 184.5 miles to the Cumberland, MD terminus. Many bikers begin in Pittsburgh and travel the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) trail to Cumberland and then follow the towpath to here for a total trip of 333 miles.
