The Native American Canarsie tribe launched canoes into Jamaica Bay from this site. Later a pier with an amusement park was a popular destination for locals. Today, the historic pier is used for fishing, picnicking and community events. The adjacent natural area provides access to the bay for kayaking and boating, and visitors fish and relax in the shade. The eastern beach provides a superb sheltered kayak launch.

Surrounded by shoreline and salt marshes, this pier is an ideal location for many waterfront pastimes. The pier is a popular fishing spot and the open areas are ideal for picnics, kite flying, or simply relaxing outdoors.

At Water's Edge

This lovely sandy beach provides access to the north side of Jamaica Bay. The beach is just beyond an active barbeque area and water sprinkler.
Beginners can paddle alongshore a short distance heading east for a pleasant paddle. A small salt marsh and shallows provide for wildlife viewing, nearby. More experienced paddlers also use this launch for a variety of trips.
