Floyd Bennett Field was New York City’s first municipal airport; later it became a World War II naval air station. Today this area includes over 1,300 acres of grassland, saltmarshes, tidal mudflats, a marina, and the former airfield, including a control tower and terminal that is now the William Fitts Ryan Visitor Center (Ryan Visitor Center). Many recreational opportunities are available, including biking, archery, and fishing. Floyd Bennett Field is open daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Facilities

Ryan Visitor Center: Learn about the aviation history of Floyd Bennett Field. (718) 338-3799. Open weekends from 9 am to 12 pm.
Hangar B: Explore historic aircraft. Ranger programs are held on Sundays at 2 pm.
Seaplane Kayak Launch: Launch your kayak or other small craft here.
Aviator Sports: Aviator Sports and Events Center continutes to operate the outdoor facilities, which include the sports fields, Green Meadows Farm, and golf. The NPS has signed an agreement with Chris Werstine, a member of the local hockey community, to operate the interior facilities specific to the hockey and figure skating programs which will resume on Monday, April 28. Other programs within the facility have been suspended and the facility will be closed to general public access.
Moonbeam Marina: Located across from the entrance to Floyd Bennett Field, this marina has more than 500 slips. Find out more here, or call (718) 252 8761.
Archery Range: Permits are required to use the archery field. Permits are $75 annually. Please call (718) 338-3799 for more information.
