Quick Facts

Historical/Interpretive Information/Exhibits

The Harper House was near the end of a 20-year run as the only tavern in Harpers Ferry when Meriwether Lewis arrived. Thomas Jefferson may have been among the first guests to stay here in 1783. If Lewis rented a room in 1803, he was among the last travelers to seek shelter here.
