Name Origin

The area known as Moose, Wyoming wasn't always called Moose, it actually started out as Menor's Ferry, referencing the nearby homestead and ferry operation of Bill Menor. But as the Jackson Hole Valley grew, the post office was built and was called the Moose Post Office. It was at that time in 1929 that small town of Menor's Ferry became known Moose.

The area's namesake is also representive of its frequent visitor, the moose. The nearby Snake River and Sawmill Ponds makes the region perfect habitat for the large water-loving ungulate.
