Established in 1850, Society of California Pioneers is dedicated to the study and enjoyment of California art, history and culture. The Society opened the first library in California in addition to organizing public meetings, lectures and social events over the years. In its modern incarnation, the Society has a research library and a non-profit museum of California history at the Presidio.
