Glorieta a Abraham Lincoln

A bronze sculpture of US President Abraham Lincoln stands in a small parkway in Ciudad Juárez, located close to the port of entry into the United States. It is one of four memorial figures of Lincoln in four major Mexican cities. With such an enthusiasm to erect effigies of the United States’ 16th commander-in-chief, it is easy to see that Mexico reveres Lincoln and his legacy. The figure of Lincoln in Juarez is imposing. That the sculpture of a foreign leader is allowed a commanding presence speaks to Lincoln’s stature in life and the many ways that he became a sympathetic figure to leaders in Mexico.
