Quick Facts
Location:
Quincy, MA
Significance:
These boxwood hedges have continuously grown on this property since 1731. They grow from the original root system.
Lining the pathways in the garden are dwarf English boxwoods (Buxus sempervirens suffruticosa). The boxwoods are some of the oldest features of the landscape, dating back to the house’s construction in 1731. The boxwoods were on the property when John and Abigail Adams moved to the home in 1788.

Due to their age, the boxwoods are very fragile. Please remain within the established paths, and do not step over the hedges. If you wish to exit the paths use the opening by the rose bush or between the house and the Stone Library.
