Cooks Lake Day-Use Area is a good spot to pull up a chair, relax, and watch the boats go by on Pine Island Bayou. Bring your fishing gear and see what's biting.

You'll want to bring your own chairs as there are no picnic tables or facilities at this site.

From US 69/96/287 between Beaumont and Lumberton, exit at Cooks Lake Road and go east for 0.6 miles until you reach the day-use area parking alongside the road.

  • Located in the Beaumont Unit of Big Thicket National Preserve
  • Not recommended for launching kayaks or canoes due to steep banks
  • No restrooms
