What shaped the topography of Prince William Forest Park? Hike the Quantico Cascades Trail to learn more about the geology of the fall line, an area where the rolling hills of the Piedmont meet the flat softer sediments of the Coastal Plain. Because both areas meet in the park, the two branches of Quantico Creek flowing through the park form small cascades at this intersection as water has a tougher time eroding the hard rocks of the Chopawamsic Formation.
