Nolina, also known as bear grass or basketgrass, closely resembles sotol, but it's leaf edges have a rough sandpapery feel instead of little teeth. Nolina sends up a short grassy bloom stalk every year. As with the sotol, Indigenous peoples also used the long slender leaves of nolina to make baskets, sandals, and mats.
