Historical/Interpretive Information/Exhibits

Lover’s Leap is one of the cave’s oldest named landmarks – the name goes back to 1827.  The route leading you to this section of the cave is lined with historic signatures, monuments and artifacts from early cave visitors.  When you arrive at the end of the passageway you are standing at a stone wall built in the 1930’s by the Civilian Conservation Corp. Overlooking the large canyon passageway, there is a slender pointed slab of rock jutting outward, this was named Lover’s Leap.
