Significance:

This building was originally used as a storage and garage area. Since 1980 it has welcomed visitors as the Eisenhower National Historic Site Reception Center.

Original Structure

Like many of us, Dwight and Mamie Eisenhower found themselves in need of extra storage space as they looked towards retirement at their Gettysburg Farm. In 1960, they had this structure built for storing various items at their property. In addition to storing memorabilia, gifts, and other personal items, the building plans were expanded to include room for Mamie Eisenhower’s Plymouth Valiant car to be parked inside the structure.  

Since 1980, this building has served as the Eisenhower NHS Reception Center, providing information on the Eisenhowers and their story for thousands of visitors who have come to their Gettysburg farm.
