Spencer Spit State Park on Lopez Island is an ideal spot for camping, hiking, and other waterfront activities. The campground contains 37 standard camp sites, 3 group sites for large parties, and seven hiker/biker sites, as well as campsites for campers arriving by boat or kayak. The park also features 2 miles of hiking trails and is renowned as a spot for gathering crabs and clams. Spencer spit is named after the second Euro-American family to live in this area (it was originally territory of the Samish Tribe). Its lagoon attracts migratory birds in the wintertime, making it an ideal spot for birdwatching. There are also opportunities to rent sea kayaks and bicycles in the park if you want to enjoy the beautiful waters of the Salish Sea during your visit.
