Location:
The Peach Orchard is located at the junction of Emmitsburg Road and Wheatfield Road.
Significance:
On July 2, US General Dan Sickles advanced his troops beyond the Federal line on Cemetery Ridge and occupied the Peach Orchard. A Confederate assault pushed Sickles’ 3rd Corps soldiers into a retreat at around 6:30 pm that evening.

The Union line extended from Devil’s Den to here, then angled northward on Emmitsburg Road. Federal cannon bombarded Southern forces crossing the Rose Farm toward the Wheatfield until about 6:30 p.m., when Confederate attacks overran this position.
