Olmsted Designed Landscape
Recommended in Olmsted Brothers 1908 report on Seattleā€™s parks, West Seattle Parkway was one of several thought-up by John Charles Olmsted never to be built. By 1911, it seemed work at West Seattle Parkway would pick up, with John Charles recommending a refined alignment to address topographical challenges by utilizing sharp turns that would lead to an elevated bridge. The topographical challenges at West Seattle Parkway rivaled those along Lake Washington Boulevard.
