Description
During this program, you will be guided by an Institute Naturalist through the sawgrass prairie and cypress forests of the Everglades. Immerse yourself in the world of cypress domes and alligators as we study the hidden story of elevation and water flow. You’ll also search for fish, air plants, and other critters in the cypress forest. Be ready to get wet and have fun!
Guests will meet their Naturalist at Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center (40001 State Hwy 9336, Homestead, FL 33034) 15 minutes before the tour start time.
Guests will then follow the Naturalist to the slogging location.
Maximum of 10 participants
- Age 12+ (All minors should be accompanied by an adult)
- Guest must be taller than 54 inches (4ft 6in)
Need to Know:
- There are no bathrooms located at the Cypress Slog location. There are bathrooms located at Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center.
- Guests will follow the Naturalist in their own car.
Must Bring:
- Required Attire: long pants and closed toed tied up shoes (no slip-on shoes or rubber boots, they will get stuck in mud).
- Recommended Attires: hat, bug jacket, light weight long sleeve shirt.
- Water bottle
- Sunscreen
- Insect Repellent
- Waterproof bag to protect your phone, camera, etc.
- Bringing extra clothes, shoes, and a towel to change after.
