Description
Join a National Park Ranger and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources staff for a interpretive hike and invasive species workday!
Hike in the Sheldon Marsh, a state nature preserve and one of the last remaining undeveloped stretches of shoreline in the Sandusky Bay region.
Experience the variety of natural habitats that comprise the lake-marsh-forest ecosystem, which once encompassed thousands of acres along Lake Erie's western basin.
Work along side friends or family to help remove the invasive European Frog-bit which threatens our wetlands by threatening native fish and plants.
The event will be 12:30pm-4pm, participants will meet in the parking area of Sheldon Marsh State Nature Preserve at 2715 Cleveland Rd W Huron, OH 44839.
Expect an approximately three-mile hike over pavement and along the beach. Sun protection and footwear that is suitable for both types of terrain are recommended.
Participants must be 15 or older and be able to hike to and from the worksite.
