Are you interested in learning more about the Union Army’s occupation of Corinth, Mississippi? If you said yes, then mark your calendars for Saturday, September 23rd! Ranger Anthony Killion will be leading a one hour-long walk and talk exploring the life of the common soldier during the Union military occupation of this small town.
The program will focus on the experiences of soldiers in the 81st Ohio Infantry who were in town for most of the Union Army’s occupation. This will be the last of the summer programs which followed the men of the 81st throughout their time in Corinth.
Everyone is invited to call the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center at 662-287-9273 to register in advance. The program will begin at the Corinth Contraband Camp, located at 800 North Parkway Street, at 3:00 pm. Participants are urged to wear clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather and to bring water to drink. The tour will include a walk of up to one quarter of a mile on a sidewalk.
