Description

San Antonio Missions National Historical Park is excited to invite you to participate in this public "Story Catching" event which will take place on September 6th from 10AM to 2PM, at the Mission San Jose Visitor Center Theater, 6701 San Jose Dr.
The purpose of this Story Catching event is center and amplify the voices of the Mission Descendant Community on the first day of the World Heritage Festival. Building on the success of the “We’re Still Here: San Antonio Missions Descendant Stories” project, this Story Catching effort will record and share stories that celebrate the experiences, connections to place, and identities of Mission Descendants. A pre-selected number of participants will be invited on stage to read their story in their own voice to the public. This segment will be recorded by the City of San Antonio’s Office of Community and Engagement and compiled into an episode of the “There’s a Story Here” web series.

The second part of the event will provide an opportunity for a broader audience to share stories about the missions. National Park Service and Office of Historic Preservation Staff will be on hand to collect and submit stories to the city of San Antonio’s Discovery Map There's A Story Here (https://www.sanantonio.gov/.../Local.../Story-Here).
Any individual with ties to the historical park is invited to share their own missions stories, from any era, and connect with other communities associated with the missions. If you have a story but do not wish to read it live and be recorded, remember that you will have the opportunity to submit it by yourself during the second half of the event!
