Description
Big South Fork NRRA is encouraging school-age children to begin the summer season by learning to fish with a park ranger.
A park ranger will introduce school-age children to the fundamentals of fishing, help identify some native fish of the area, and why a river ecosystem is so important. At the end of the program, youth will receive a fishing pole, tackle box, and the official Junior Ranger Angler Badge. Fishing items are limited to first-time participants only.
Free Fishing Day is always the Saturday of the first full week in June. Anyone (resident or non-resident) of any age can fish free without a license in Tennessee’s public waters, agency owned and operated lakes, and parks.
This program is made possible by a Junior Ranger Angler grant from the National Park Foundation.
