Description

To celebrate National Park Week 2022 the Natchez Trace Parkway wants to spark your curiosity about snakes with our Junior Ranger Snake Day event. Come join us for this free, family-friendly event where kids and adults alike can make crafts and learn about these fascinating, but often feared, overlooked and misunderstood creatures.

Snake Craft and Learning Activities: 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Booths will be set up outside of the Parkway Visitor Center with several snake themed art and learning activities such as make your own snake mobile, snake species matching game, and create your own rattlesnake. With each activity you complete you earn fun Junior Ranger prizes.

Live Snake Presentation: 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm
“Snakes of Mississippi” presented by award winning educator Terry Vandeventer where he tells stories about and shows live snakes that can be found in Mississippi. This program will be presented outside the Parkway Visitor Center.

Junior Ranger Pledge Ceremony: 2:00 pm
For those who stay until the end, a Park Ranger will swear in all the new Natchez Trace Parkway junior rangers in a large pledge ceremony.

We can't wait to see you for what will be an exciting day of learning and fun.
