Join us for a Dramatic Reading of the “The Lowell Offering” (a Work in Progress). presented by Merrimack Repertory Theater and UMass Lowell English Department. Hosted at the Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center. Following the reading, there will be a talkback where the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions of the playwright, Genevra Gallo-Bayiates, the director, Jess Hutchinson, and UMass Lowell Associate Professor, Dr. Bridget Marshall.

About "The Lowell Offering": In 1840 in Lowell, MA, a group of factory workers began publishing the world’s first magazine written solely by women; it was called The Lowell Offering. This is the story of the magazine’s editor, Harriet Farley, and a labor activist, Sarah Bagley and the rise and fall of their friendship, the magazine, and Lowell’s “Mill Girl” culture.
 
Free parking is available at the Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center parking lot (304 Dutton Street).
