Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area has spent the past year engulfed in a year-long park-wide event called GO BIG 2024 Challenge. This interactive activity has encouraged our visitors to complete challenges and answer questions all while exploring and experiencing destinations within the boundary of the Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area, Obed Wild and Scenic River, and Manhattan Project National Historical Park. Visitors had access to a free GO BIG 2024 Challenge Booklet and each question was worth a set number of points. Visitors were also challenged to hike, ride equestrian, mountain bike, and paddle our waterways for points. For those participants that earned 100 points, a special patch designed for this event was awarded. Participants who earned 200 points were awarded a ceremic beverage coaster.
On December 7th, at 10 AM (ET), the challenge will wrap up with a culminating program at the Bandy Creek Visitor Center. Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area invites everyone to join us as we honor hundreds of those who worked so hard and learned so much during their adventure. Bring the whole family and enjoy music, Junior Ranger holiday crafts, and a slide show of photos shared during the challenge. Participant registration will begin at 9:30 AM.
All visitors who participated in the challenge and are present will be recognized for their accomplishments and will be considered for an award in various categories. Awards will be given for “Most Points Earned,” “Most Points Earned Runner Up,” “Most Hiking Points,” “Most Equestrian Points,” “Most Mountain Bike Points,” “Most Volunteer Points,” and a special “Youth Award.” Those who are present during the event will get a copy of the new GO Big 2025 Challenge Booklet set to begin on January 1.
