Description

Something "fishy" is going on at Great Falls!

The Great Falls Tavern Visitor Center classroom is open for visitors to participate in self-directed hands-on activities related to the canal. During April, we’re exploring fish and the relationship between people and fish in the Potomac River Valley. The C&O Canal is home to numerous bodies of water which fish call home, from the creeks and streams which feed into the canal, to the canal and the Potomac River. Discover the different species of fish which live in these waters and learn about the anatomy of fish. Reflect on the various reasons people fish, from catching food and providing for families and communities, to escaping the stress of everyday life.  Learn about the different tools which humans have used over time to catch fish. Come trawl the activities and share your fish stories with us!

The classroom is open Wednesday - Sunday, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.
