Description

Celebrate the holidays in 1800s style with period decor, music, food tastings, and living history reenactors. Inside the historic Malus-Beauregard House, enjoy period decorations and Islenos culture; the Islenos were Spanish-speaking immigrants from Spain's Canary Islands off the coast of Africa who immigrated to Spanish Louisiana in the laste 1700s. Traditional Isleno foods will be available for sampling courtesy of the Los Islenos Museum and Cultural Center. At 12:30, 1:30, and 2:30 p.m., local musician John Rankin will present Isleno music. Outside the house, return to the winter of 1814-1815: Tennessee volunteer militia members will share their stories as they prepare to defend New Orleans against the British invasion that would end with the Battle of New Orleans.
