Description
CANCELLED through Sunday, April 26, 2020
Following guidance from the CDC and public health officials, and to comply with county-wide shelter-in-place legal orders, which are in effect from Tuesday, March 17, 2020, through Sunday, May 3, 2020, Point Reyes National Seashore's ranger- and volunteer-led programs and activities have been cancelled for the duration of the shelter-in-place order. Updates will be posted to our Current Conditions page and to the park's social media channels.
Weekends and federal holidays, December 28, 2019, through April 26, 2020, weather permitting. Volunteer docents will be stationed at the Lighthouse Observation Deck from 11 am to 4:30 pm to answer questions about gray whales. Visitors will be able to view gray whales through park-provided binoculars and scopes.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the high volume of traffic out to the Lighthouse and Chimney Rock areas during the gray whale migration, the park will be operating a shuttle bus system from the Drakes Beach parking lot (usually from New Year's weekend to Easter each year on weekends and holidays-weather permitting). Sir Francis Drake Boulevard from South Beach to the Lighthouse and Chimney Rock areas WILL BE CLOSED during shuttle operating hours.
