Description

William Howard Taft National Historic Site will celebrate a Halloween Open House with free events which will also include a trunk or treat. The Mount Auburn home where William Howard Taft was born and grew up will be decorated to reflect the mid-Victorian period during the Halloween Celebration on October 29, 2022.

On Saturday, October 29, 2022, from 5:30 pm -7:30 pm, join a “Victorian Visitor from the Past” for a look into the origins of the “Hallows Eve” celebration, and the 19th century traditions and customs surrounding this unearthly holiday. William Howard Taft’s father, Alphonso Taft was the last family member that a Victorian funeral was held for inside of the Taft family Parlor in 1891.

Visitors can enjoy a trunk or treat with their kids during their visit.  The event is free and open to the public.

William Howard Taft National Historic Site is located at 2038 Auburn Avenue and is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., tours of the house are available throughout the day. Visit the park's Directions page for detailed directions to the park site. The park is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. This event is co-sponsored by our partners at Friends of the Taft Legacy, The Mount Auburn Closing the Health Gap and Do Right Campaign.
