Description

Commemorate Juneteenth at Harpers Ferry National Historical Park. Accompany a ranger at 2:00 pm as we explore the lives of the Gilbert family as they fought to be reunited and freed from enslavement. Meet the ranger at 2:00 pm in Arsenal Square. From there, the program will be taken inside to an air-conditioned space with seating. From 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, visit the Provost Marshal exhibit to step back to post Civil War and real human rights stories conducted and solved by the US run Freedmen's Bureau. Delve into the legal aspects of emancipation and gain insight into the challenges formerly enslaved individuals faced in securing their freedom following the Civil War.
