NC Trail Days lasts three full days from May 31st through June 2nd. The OVNHT programs are limited to: May 31st at 4:00pm lecture at the Elkin Trails and Heritage Center. June 1st at 10:00am short talk and 2-mile hike from the Elkin Trails and Heritage Center. June 1st from 1:00pm to 6:00pm information tent at the Vendor Village beside the Elkin Trails and Heritage Center.

Description

Come join us at the NC Trail Days in Elkin, North Carolina!

Elkin and the Yadkin River Valley are home to many great trails, including the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail.

Join Ranger William at the Yadkin Valley Heritage & Trails Visitor Center Friday evening at 4pm to hear the story that inspired the OVNHT's creation, the many other stories that are included, and how we operate today!

Then on Saturday at 10am, join Ranger William for refresher about the story of the trail and a hike along the trail! This out-and-back hike will cover apx. 2-miles total, from the Trails Center up Front Street to cross at the library, then along Elkin Creek and the Yadkin River in the footsteps of the Yadkin Valley men who journeyed to the Battle of Kings Mountain in 1780.

Later, swing by and visit with our staff at the Vendor Village at the Trails Center Saturday from 1pm to 6pm while enjoying some great local food and music!
