Description

Earth Day Weekend 2019: Protecting America’s Birds

Join park staff, volunteers and community partners for a day of unique activities, programs and guided hikes.

Schedule
(All programs will be held in or start from the Harry Hampton Visitor Center)

Bird Photography 101 Walk: 9:00 am until 11:00 am

Morning Walk and Bird Watch: 9:30 am until 10:30 am

Native American Bird Lore Presentation by Michael “Iron Horse” Matthews: 11:00 am until Noon 

Film Presentation: “The Lost Bird Project;” 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm. Hosted by Caroline Eastman, President, Columbia Audubon Society. 

Lost Bird Walk: 1:30 pm until 2:30 pm. Leader: Caroline Eastman, President, Columbia Audubon Society. 

Founding Feathers: Extinction and Conservation of Southern Birds Since 1800: 2:30 pm until 3:00 pm. Presenter: Karli Sinclair, University of South Carolina.

Evening Owl Prowl: 7:00pm until 9:00pm (flashlights recommended)

Other Activities:

Carolina Bird Coloring Station: All Day

 Protecting America’s Birds in Your Own Backyard:” All Day. Information Station: John Myers, SC Department of Education.
