Inspired by the true story of Angelique Mott. A young Ojibway woman (Julia Jones) and her voyageur husband Charlie (Charlie Carrick) join unscrupulous copper speculators against the advice of her grandmother, Green Thunderbird (Tantoo Cardinal). When they are abandoned on an island off of Isle Royale and left for dead, Angelique is forced to face her inner demons and remember the teachings of her grandmother in order to survive both physically and psychologically against the treacherous winter and her dire circumstances. Anishinaabe filmmaker Michelle Derosier will join the festival for this special presentation of her film.
