Description

Historian W.E.B. DuBois described Reconstruction by saying that "The slave went free; stood a brief moment in the sun; then moved back again toward slavery."

Inspried by this quote and the ratification of the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments, Middle and High School Students produced art work interpreting DuBois's observation of the era. From March 2 through May 15, student artwork will be on display at Darrah Hall at the Penn Center National Historic Landmark District on St. Helena Island.
