Description

Campfire Talk on the missile defenses of Washington and Baltimore during the Cold War:  first anti-aircraft guns, then conventional warhead Nike Ajax surface to air missiles, and finally, until 1972, nuclear warhead Nike Hercules SAMs defended the cities from swarms of Soviet bombers that never attacked.  Learn about the abandoned sites nearby that once were armed with nuclear missiles in a “ring of supersonic steel.”
