Description

On Friday, October 18, Shiloh National Military Park in partnership with Pickwick Landing State Park, will present an “Owl Prowl” for the public on the battlefield.

The program will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and begin in the Shiloh Visitor Center Auditorium. Owls from the Pickwick Landing State Park aviary will be on site for visitors to view up close and to learn about their unique characteristics. Rangers will present a talk on adaptations owls have made that allow them to be capable hunters and how they use their senses to survive and thrive in the dark.

Following the program rangers will lead a walk to hear and hopefully catch a glimpse of one of the many owls that call the battlefield home. Participants may even see other nocturnal creatures that might be active that evening.

Anyone interested in participating in the two-hour presentation and hike is invited to register by calling the park at 731-689-5696. Participants should meet rangers at the visitor center beginning at 5:30 p.m.
