Description

Life on the Edge

For a century people have been drawn to this National Park to stand at the edge of one of the most active volcanoes on earth - Kīlauea.

Kīlauea may just be the most active volcano on earth sitting atop the Hawaiian Hot Spot creating a living, breathing, moving landscape – sacred, cherished and always changing.

  • Life on the Edge is a 20 minute talk offered daily at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the caldera rim.
  • Look into the heart of one of the world’s most active volcanoes and learn about the newest eruptions
  • Learn how scientists monitor Hawai‘i’s evolving volcanoes
  • Discover the dramatic geology and cultural history of Kīlauea’s summit
