The Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail is a braided network of trails intended to link and showcase the cultural, historic, and natural features of the Potomac River Valley. The trail network extends from the mouth of the Potomac in Maryland and Virginia, through DC, to western Maryland and Pennsylvania. Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail is at the center of American history. With the homes of the founding fathers and the Revolutionary War battlegrounds of the East to expansion Westward, it encompasses the story of early America. This unique position allows Potomac Heritage to showcase the 250th anniversary of the nation coming up in July of 2026. Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail offers 900-miles of outdoor classroom where people can learn about the founding of America and what we have faced, overcome, and accomplished since.
